I don't know how to deal with art theft.
I mean it was a while ago, actually years ago, yet I’m still confused as to why. When I first started drawing digital art a few years back I still had no idea what I was doing or how anything worked. I drew the box ghost and I was content enough with it to post it to DA. You can see all the wobbly lines and its distorted shapes and such.
When I first saw my version of the box ghost being used in the video I had to deny it. I couldn’t wrap my head around the thought that someone out there looked at my “art” and considered it good enough to take it. I discovered the video in mid 2016 and the video was put up on YouTube in 2014. They did put links in the description for credits but they are all dead links now. I haven’t even deleted my box ghost so the link to me shouldn’t be dead. So I’m assuming they never credited me.
Anytime I told anyone that my art was stolen they looked at me like I don’t even have enough talent to steal from. Like I should be happy that anyone would even look at it in the first place. Yet, here I am, after all this time still feeling cheated and violated.
It sucks not having enough talent and a following to get help from when stuff like this happens.
If was asked back then if they could use it, I totally would have let them do it. Discovering that theft, I took most of the year off drawing any fanart and started doing my own personal work. I think I have enough evidence to prove its mine and stolen if anyone's interested.
